  This place is a must see location for those crossing the historic and scenic Tamiami Scenic Trail. Tamiami was a nickname given to the road when built in the 1920s and is a blend of Tampa and Miami, as in Ta-miami. I e not actually been in the Visitor center itself, as I’m busier outside on the raised boardwalk that looks out over the page freshwater canal that parallels the road. The wildlife, especially the abundance of alligators in their natural setting is just breathtaking. You must stop here.

  Great stop to see alligators. Cool off in air conditioned visitor center with movie. Frequent naturalist presentations by National Park staff.
